Appliance Repair FAQ
Common questions we get on calls. If yours isn't here, just ring us at (731) 244-8756.
How much does appliance repair cost?
Every repair is different — the specific part, the labor time, the brand, and whether the unit is built-in all affect the number. We charge a single flat diagnostic fee to come out, properly diagnose the problem, and tell you exactly what the repair will cost. That diagnostic fee is fully credited toward the repair if you decide to proceed. Call (731) 244-8756 to schedule.
How fast can you get here?
For most of the Pickwick Lake area, we can offer same-day service if you call before noon. Same-week for everything else. After you submit a request through the form or call us, we text back the next available service window — usually within the hour during business hours.
What brands do you service?
Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, GE, Frigidaire, Samsung, LG, Bosch, Sub-Zero, Wolf, Viking, Thermador, Scotsman, U-Line, Miele, Speed Queen, Insinkerator, Moen, and most other major residential brands. If you have a unit and you're not sure whether we work on it, just call — we likely do.
Do you work on built-in and high-end appliances?
Yes. Sub-Zero refrigerators, Wolf ranges, Bosch dishwashers, KitchenAid built-ins, Thermador, Viking, and the under-counter Scotsman / U-Line icemakers common in Pickwick lake homes — we have the training and brand-specific diagnostic tools for all of them.
Should I repair or replace my appliance?
It depends on the age of the unit, the cost of the repair, and whether the appliance is built-in or freestanding. We'll always tell you honestly when the math doesn't favor repair — especially for older washers, dryers, and freestanding microwaves. Built-in dishwashers, ranges, and high-end refrigerators usually justify repair much longer because of the cabinetry and installation work involved in replacement.
Do you do same-day repairs, or just diagnostics?
We aim to complete the repair the same visit, and most repairs are completable in one trip. When a part has to be ordered (less common parts, special-order, or sealed-system work), we schedule a return visit — typically within the week, often the next day.
Do you service vacation rentals and second homes?
Yes — we serve a lot of Pickwick Lake second homes and short-term rentals. We can coordinate with property managers, take photos of issues for owners who aren't on site, and bill remotely. Just let us know the situation when you call.
What's the diagnostic fee?
A flat fee to come out, properly diagnose the issue, and give you a quote for the repair. We discuss it on the phone when you book. It's fully credited toward the cost of the repair if you decide to proceed, so if you go ahead with the work the diagnostic effectively costs nothing.
Are you insured?
Yes — general liability and workers' compensation insurance. We move the unit ourselves, protect the floor, and clean up after the job. Your home and our techs are both covered.
Do you warranty your work?
We back our labor for 90 days and pass through manufacturer part warranties (typically 90 days to 1 year on parts, longer on certain brands). Specific terms are on the work order before you approve the repair.
What payment methods do you accept?
Cash, check, all major credit cards, and most digital payment methods. Payment is due at completion of the repair unless we've arranged something else in advance with a property manager or warranty company.
Can you handle warranty work?
We can in some cases — depending on the manufacturer and the warranty type. Call us with your model number and we'll let you know whether we can handle the claim directly or whether you need to go through a specific authorized provider.
Do you do installation, or only repair?
We do garbage disposal replacements and most appliance installs that don't require gas plumbing or major electrical work. For dishwasher, fridge, and range installs we can usually swap a unit same-day if it's a like-for-like replacement and the plumbing / electrical is already in place.
My appliance is making a weird noise. Worth a service call?
Usually yes — weird noises often catch problems early, when the repair is cheap. A drum-bearing whine on a front-load washer, a condenser-fan rattle on a fridge, or an icemaker that's making a clicking sound during harvest are all things we can fix before they become full failures.
Why is my dryer taking forever to dry?
Almost always one of two things: a clogged vent (lint buildup in the vent line restricting airflow) or a weakened heating element / igniter. Start with checking your exterior vent flap — if it's not flapping vigorously when the dryer is running, vent cleaning may fix the problem. If the vent is clear, the heating element is suspect. We test both.
My fridge stopped cooling. What's the first thing to check?
Unplug the unit and pull it out from the wall — look at the back. If the condenser coils are caked with dust, that alone can cause cooling problems. Vacuum them off and plug the unit back in. If that doesn't fix it within 24 hours, call us — common causes are a failed evaporator fan, defrost issues, or sealed-system problems, all of which need diagnostic equipment to confirm.
Will you tell me if I should just replace it instead of repairing?
Always. If your repair quote approaches the cost of a comparable new unit, or the unit has multiple impending failures, we'll be honest about it. We'd rather earn the next repair call than push a bad fix — reputation is the whole business in a small market.
